The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
