The Grave Allegations The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021. A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.” The Police Inquiry The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley. Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January. Breakdown of Offences Prosecutors outline the 45 charges comprise: 15 counts of assault. 17 counts of penetrative assault. Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen. 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen. One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
