Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against AI, fans and a variety of guests.

For the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.

"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly close, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole away win this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I will choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to continue going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's home record, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
