The British player reached the third round in three of the four major tournaments in the current campaign.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions in 2025 because of a medical condition she has been fighting over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover ahead of launching next year's training.

These plans will include trainer Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating for the upcoming season.

Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring during her first-round match with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

She was also playing far from freely in the final set against Zhu because of the lower back problem that has been a concern during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time in more than three years, ended with three successive defeats.

She held three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March.

Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but they will keep working together, with a training session scheduled late this year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
